We raised over $ 1,200 for our Kylie and Cricket Memorial Fund! Santa Paws (aka our veterinarian, Dr. Davis) and his elves arrived in Frederick, Maryland just in time to take pictures with all of our fury & not so fury friends! Kingsbrook Animal Hospital was filled with Christmas cheer, hot chocolate and even a few kids crafts.
Our packages this year included favorites gift tags, direct email, and prints to enjoy. New this year was the option of ordering holiday cards!

The Laboratory
The Morgue

Throughout everything, our main objectives were to put on an awesome performance for all of you and to raise money for the Kylie and Cricket Memorial Fund.  We raffled off two gift certificates- one to Two Paws Up and one to Hot Fired Arts- congratulations to the winners!!!

The grave yard was "thrilling"!

Kingsbrook Animal Hospital's Flat KAH Project goes global!

This summer our Doctors went on a lot of adventures, traveled the world, & saw so many beautiful places… Our Flat Doctor’s that is! :)
Flat Dr. Walker and Flat Dr. Cook

KAH had a Flat Doctor contest that entailed our clients competing on who could take a Flat Doctor on vacation with them the furthest, most adventurous, and most submissions. Dr's Cook, Davis, Cardella, and Walker traveled near and far! Clients simply picked their favorite veterinarian and off they went. And we have to tell you- we have the BEST clients! We had submissions from North Carolina, Florida, Australia, Japan and Greece to name a few.  Our furthest Flat KAH went all the way to Bali!   Wow! That's a long way from Frederick, Maryland!

Flat Dr. Cook
We want to extend a special thanks to all of our clients who participated in our Flat KAH project. It was so much fun seeing their adventures. Also, for every picture that was submitted, Kingsbrook Animal Hospital donated one dollar to the Kylie and Cricket Memorial Fund, which raises money for Frederick homeless animals in need.

Flat KAH travels far, but also stays near.

Sassy and her Staycation

We have had so much fun watching the unique places that our Flat Doctors have traveled!  The 'flats' have traveled by planes and boats and have gone all over the world. They have clearly had many adventures as their counterparts stayed close to home continuing to treat the pets of Frederick, MD.  Perhaps some of our most endearing photos come from a kitty named Sassy. Her parents sent an email describing the attached photos of Flat Dr. Cook and Sassy. After reading it, we had to share...

Flat Dr. Cook taking a cat nap.

"Sassy is a young 18 years old and has been going to see Dr. Cook since before he started at Kingsbrook AH.  She was found along the road during a heavy rainstorm and when we opened the car door to check on her, she hopped right in.  After contacting all the neighbors to determine who she belonged to, we learned she was a stray and belonged to us.  She has been with us since 1998 and is a very smart and special kitty.

We learned very early that she didn't mind travelling in the car as long as she could sit in the front seat and occasionally look out the window, to the surprise and delight of passing vehicles, especially those with children.  Due to her age, diminished hearing, and kidney disease, Sassy's travelling days are over except for trips to see her favorite vet, Dr Cook and his staff.  In her younger days she was an inside, outside cat who enjoyed hunting mice and sharing her catch with us.  She was more like a dog and stayed close to us when out in the yard always keeping track of our whereabouts.  As she aged she preferred to stay inside and now has a simpler life.

So we would like to share Sassy's Staycation with you.  She likes to eat 5 to 6 meals a day and is showing Dr. Cook that he is not splurging on her staycation, but sticking to her diet of K/D.  Her Daddy is her favorite.  She will roll over on her back and will stare at him until he comes and kisses her belly, which he always does.  She loves watching the birds, insects, rabbits, etc outside, her Kitty TV, and wanted to share this joy with Dr. Cook.  (She did notice the bird on your shoulder Dr Cook and sniffed it to make sure it wasn't real)!   Finally, all this activity has worn her out and she is taking one of her many naps.

One thing we meant to mention was that shortly after Sassy found us she got very ill.  Even Dr. Cook wasn't sure if she would recover, but he tenaciously pursued every avenue and saved our precious little girl.  For this we are forever thankful, for as we said she has a personality that an owner will see in a pet once in their lifetime, if they are lucky."

Frederick, MD and The Kylie and Cricket Memorial Fund help little Chihiro!

Thanks to everyone’s generous donations the Kylie and Cricket Fund has helped another animal in need!

Little Chihiro

Kingsbrook Animal Hospital contacted Frederick County Animal Control to see if they had any animals in need of medical care. FCAC informed us that they had a tiny kitten named Chihiro that they were concerned about. Chihiro, a 12 week old female domestic shorthair, had a fractured leg that possibly needed to be amputated. KAH decided to see what we could do to help this little girl.

love from Chihiro.

We were able to provide this sweet kitten with a thorough physical examination by Dr. Cook along with digital radiographs of her leg. Although the radiographs showed that Chihiro did have a fractured leg at one time, it had already healed. Thankfully, Dr. Cook determined that Chihiro did not need to have her leg amputated! She will most likely always have a limp, but she seems to be adjusting very well. Chihiro may be more prone to arthritis in that leg, so Dr. Cook recommended that she be fed a prescription joint diet, such as Hill’s Science Diet J/d. Also, Chihiro may benefit from a joint supplement such as Dasuquin.

Our staff fell in love with this baby. She was purring and just wanted lots of love and cuddles from everyone. While here, Dr. Cook diagnosed her with an upper respiratory infection and an ear infection. She is currently recovering, and will be looking for her forever home soon. Thank you again for your support!

Friend of Kylie and Cricket uses talent to benefit memorial fund

Angie creating paracord bracelets.

Long time friend of Kylie and Cricket, Angie Zeger, is putting her talent to use to raise funds for the Kylie and Cricket Memorial Fund. As a hobby, Angie taught herself how to make paracord bracelets. She has expanded her talent by adding beads and charms to the bracelets to make them even more personalized.

The bracelets can be purchased at Kingsbrook Animal Hospital for $5 with beads or charms or $4 for without beads or charms. 100% of the money goes directly into the fund to help homeless animals in need!

Special orders can be accommodated by calling Kingsbrook Animal Hospital in Frederick, Md at 301-631-6900 or emailing Ranee at ranee@kingsbrookvet.com

As of this posting, Angie has raised over $600 for the Kylie and Cricket Memorial Fund! Great Job Angie!

Kylie and Cricket Memorial Fund donates to the Small Angels Rescue

Spring has Sprung!!
It is that time of year where fuzzy creatures are abound.  The Kylie and Cricket Memorial Fund took that into consideration when choosing to help the Small Angels Rescue.  Small Angels Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill, all volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming chinchillas, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, and rats.  Small Angels does not have a shelter, so they use a network of foster homes to care for the animals until they find a forever home.

Rebecca Duve, VP of Small Angels rescue with Ranee, Julie and Nicolette
With generous monetary donations from friends like you, raffles and Kingsbrook Animal Hospital events, the Kylie and Cricket Memorial Fund was able to donate food, vitamins, chew toys and bedding totaling $623.38!  This donation will go a long way in providing the necessary care for the animals awaiting their forever homes.

They can also be found in Facebook.
